Event description
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new virtual workshop on how to support your child with demand avoidance. You can attend this workshop free of charge.
The workshop is online via Microsoft Teams, booking is first come first served and places are limited. Importantly, these workshops are only available for parents and carers who are registered with a Lincolnshire GP or reside in Lincolnshire.
It is also important to note, that they do not aim to give a diagnosis for your child.
The sessions are led by a behavioural specialist and will look at the impact on children’s daily behaviours and what practical strategies, adjustments, and techniques you can use at home to support your child.
Demand avoidance can be a common trait for children and young people that are neurodiverse including Autism and ADHD.
This can make engaging in everyday tasks such as personal care and attending school difficult, as well as leading to an increase in dysregulated reactions.
Supporting a child displaying demand avoidant traits requires understanding of the cause and adjustments to support.
This short workshop will provide parent, carers, and professionals with:
- An understanding of what causes demand avoidance in neurodivergent children and young people
- How this feels for a child and young person experiencing demand avoidance
- The impact this can have on the family
- How to adapt your approach to support and provide useful strategies to help you.
